Hong Kong is a vibrant & exotic locale with a rich and varied history. Although it has become synonymous with shopping & stopovers, visitors soon discover that the former British colony offers so much more.

A cultural hotpot, Hong Kong has received a number of influences from various Chinese dynasties, the Portuguese and, more recently, the British, and these influences can be viewed as you wander the different districts of this cosmopolitan and dynamic city. Stroll through Central, the real centre of power during British colonial time, hop aboard a sampan at Aberdeen (once called Little Fragrant Harbor by the Chinese), and of course, no trip to Hong Kong is complete without taking a tram up Victoria Peak for splendid views of Hong Kong Island.

To get a sense of how the Hong Kong community lives, hit the local markets or visit a temple. A Kowloon walking tour takes in the colorful bird, flower & goldfish markets, or head over to the Stanley markets, a good spot for souvenir shopping. Don’t miss the magnificent Wong Tai Sin temple, the city’s busiest, where fortune tellers will predict your future for a fee!
