China cities - Zhongdian

Long hidden from the outside world by its remote and rugged mountain surrounds, Zhongdian now welcomes travelers fortunate enough to journey this far into Yunnan Province.

Set high on the edge of the Tibetan Plateau, it is the culture and religion of Tibet that makes Zhongdian so special. Explore with us the monastery of  Songzanlin, entering the ancient world of Tibetan Buddhism, and perhaps meet one of the Living Buddhas who reside here.
