By torchlight, creep through the little-used eastern gate in a jungle immersed in darkness to come upon dawn’s first rays shining down upon the amazing Angkor Wat. Visit the ancient temples of Sambour Prei Kuk and float on a remote section of Tonle Sap Lake. In Battambang, discover more of Cambodia’s history and some of the country’s best preserved colonial architecture.
2013
DAYS 1-2: PHNOM PENH
On arrival in Phnom Penh, transfer to your hotel. Plunge straight into the streets of Phnom Penh with a thrilling cyclo ride immersing you into this fascinating city followed by a visit to the central market. In the evening meet your tour leader and small group of fellow travelers for welcome drinks. Admire the beauty of the stately grounds of the Royal Palace, marvel at the silver-lined floor of the majestic Silver Pagoda, and gain an insight into Khmer history at the National Museum. In this city of contrasts, reflect on the Khmer Rouge legacy on a visit to Tuol Sleng, plus learn about the plight of local street children and what you can do to help at the ChildSafe Center. In the evening, you might take a stroll along Sisowath Quay, enjoying the cool river breezes along with the locals.

DAY 3: KAMPONG THOM
Gaze out at the lovely Cambodian countryside as you travel north to an interesting silver village. View traditional rural scenes of farmers driving oxen through paddy fields. Along the way discover a local silk farm, gorgeous hilltop temples and try the fresh fruit from local market sellers, or brave the local delicacy - fried spiders. Explore the ancient ruins of Sambour Prei Kuk, dating back to pre- Angkorian times.

DAYS 4-7: SIEM REAP
Uncover a remote section of Tonle Sap Lake on a remarkable boat trip. Travel to Siem Reap, your base for exploring the incredible temples of Angkor. Rise before dawn to witness the iconic spires of Angkor Wat emerge from the surrounding darkness as the sky turns pink above, an enduring memory. Venture to remote Boeng Mealea, off the tourist trail, and wander amongst the ruins of the atmospheric tree-covered Ta Prohm, before you bid your new friends farewell. On your last day, enjoy free time until your departure transfer.
