With its rolling hills, cloud-covered mountain passes and colorful minority villages; Northern Thailand invites exploration. From Chiang Mai, we travel to remote Mae Hong Son near the Burmese border. Venture on to the charming village of Pai, our base for exploring local hill tribe villages, hiking trails and waterfalls. A stay at Lisu Lodge, renowned for its eco-friendly approach to tourism, an elephant trek and some gentle river rafting round off your ‘Northern Encounter'.

Trip grading: MODERATE to ADVENTUROUS Suitable for travelers with an average level of fitness, independent mobility; a keen sense of adventure is important. Expect lots of walking and you may need to carry your bags from time to time.
